Why this clause is risky
Net 60 means the client gets two months to pay every invoice. You did the work, you paid your own bills, and the money sits in their account instead of yours.
Big companies love Net 60 because it is free financing. For you, it is a cash flow hole. And without a late fee in the contract, Net 60 quietly becomes Net 90 with zero consequences for them.

Subject: Quick ask on payment terms
Hi [Client name], Thanks for sending the contract over. One thing before I sign: Net 60 means I am financing two months of work out of my own pocket. That does not work for me. Can we do Net 15, with 1.5% monthly interest on anything overdue? Happy to keep everything else as is. Thanks, [Your name]
